There will be three competing groups: Novice mid, Novice high, and Intermediate.

NOVICE MID GROUP (approximately 1st/2nd year)
Students will compete individually in prepared recitation. Recitation materials will be in the form of poems. Performance length for each student is approximately 1 minute. Students will be evaluated based on
- accuracy in memorization
- accuracy in pronunciation
- voice and pacing
- physical presence
NOVICE HIGH GROUP (approximately 2nd/3rd year)
Students will compete individually in prepared recitation. Recitation materials will be in the form of poems. Performance length for each student is approximately 2 minutes. Students will be evaluated based on
- accuracy in memorization
- accuracy in pronunciation
- voice and pacing
- physical presence
INTERMEDIATE GROUP (approximately 3rdyear/4thyear)
Students will compete individually in prepared recitation. Recitation materials will be in the form of poems. Performance length for each student is approximately 3 minutes. Students will be evaluated based on

- voice and pacing
- physical presence
