East & Southeast Asian
East and Southeast Asia is one of the most populated and culturally rich regions on earth, with over two billion people, or close to one-third of the world's population. Given this population density, it is not surprising that the languages we offer—belonging to at least four distinct language families—include some of the most widely spoken languages in the world.
Broadly speaking, East and Southeast Asia lie south of Russia, east of the five republics of the former Soviet Union (now Central Asia) and Southern Asia, and north of Australia.
East and Southeast Asia are noted for their dramatic development and economic growth over the past several decades. China and Japan have the world's second- and third-largest economies, respectively. The nations and cultures of the region also present highly diverse and fascinating literature, film, theater, popular culture, fashion, architecture, philosophy, and other cultural expressions.
